Suddenly, a white flash appeared in the darkness and raced along the grass, coming out of a forest, pursued by another shadowy form.
Echo was running on all fours. He didn't know where he was going; he was simply trying to get away from the shadow behind him. All he could hear was blood pounding throughout him.

Ruby + Aqua - Background StoryDeep in a massive forest somewhere in the world, where many pokémon live peacefully, there is a sacred area where no strife can penitrate, in the centre of which is an alter with a single purple, glowing stone. The residents of the forest often come by on moonless nights to gaze at the soft purple light.
